Software Test Engineer
Job Summary
We are looking for a skilled Software Test Engineer to ensure the quality, reliability, and performance of our portal-based applications. The candidate will take full ownership of the QA process, from requirement review and test planning to test case design and execution. This role requires a self-driven professional experienced in both manual and automated testing within fast-paced environments.

Job Details
Responsibilities:
- Analyze requirements, user stories, and designs to identify test scenarios, coverage gaps and risks.
- Take full ownership of the QA process end-to-end, from requirement review and test planning through test case design and execution.
- Take the initiative to identify gaps and drive improvements in QA practices, without needing close supervision.
- Design, review, and execute manual test cases for web-based applications.
- Develop and maintain automated test scripts for UI and API testing.
- Decide and justify which test cases should be automated vs manual.
- Perform functional, regression, integration, smoke, and sanity testing.
- Plan and execute performance, load, and stress testing to evaluate system behavior under various conditions.
- Analyze test results, identify root causes, and collaborate with developers to resolve issues.
- Log, track, and manage defects with clear reproduction steps and supporting evidence.
Requirements:
- Must-Have: 4 years and above of experience in software testing or quality assurance.
- Strong understanding of software testing fundamentals, defect lifecycle and test design techniques.
- Proven ability to work independently and take ownership of the full QA process, including requirement review, test planning, test case design, and execution.
- Self-motivated with strong initiative, comfortable driving QA activities forward proactively with minimal supervision.
- Hands-on experience testing web applications.
- Hands-on experience with test automation for web and API testing.
- Proficiency in automation scripting using Python or similar languages.
- Experience with UI automation frameworks (e.g. Selenium, Playwright, or equivalent).
- Strong analytical, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- Solid knowledge of SQL backend data validation.
- Comfortable working in Linux/RHEL environments (log analysis, basic shell commands).
- Ability to handle ambiguous or evolving requirements and work effectively under tight deadlines.
- Nice-to-Have: Experience in performance, load, and stress testing of web applications; Understanding of performance metrics such as response time, throughput, and error rate.
Other information:
- Malaysian candidates only.
- Working hours: Monday to Friday 10am to 6pm.
- To come in office once a week, work from home on other days.
- Working location: Petaling Jaya, Selangor. Within walking distance to Asia Jaya LRT.
- Contractual bonus: 1 month (13th month salary).
