Jewellery Design Intern
Job Summary
GUNG Jewellery is seeking a Jewellery Design & Production Intern to assist with modern jewellery creation, technical design, and hands-on making. The role provides practical experience in design development, production support, and retail operations within an independent brand. The ideal candidate has an eye for detail, basic 3D/CAD skills, and a passion for crafting physical mockups and jewellery pieces.
Responsibilities
- Develop sketches, technical drawings, and 3D/CAD models.
- Support jewellery making, assembly, and quality control.
- Assist with retail operations, customer inquiries, and showroom upkeep.
Required Skills
- Studies in Jewellery, Product, or Industrial Design
- Basic proficiency in Rhino or 3D/CAD tools
- Hands-on making and jewellery assembly skills
- Attention to detail and strong organizational skills
Job Details
Responsibilities
Design & Development
- Develop sketches, technical drawings and basic 3D/CAD models from creative briefs and visual references.
- Communicate design details through accurate dimensions, proportions, materials and construction specifications.
- Refine designs based on feedback, considering wearability and production feasibility.
- Assist with sample reviews and communication with production partners.
Making & Production Support
- Beading, stringing, jewellery assembly and modifications.
- Create physical mockups to support product development.
- Assist with jewellery preparation and quality control, checking appearance, assembly and functionality.
- Keep materials, components, tools and samples organised.
Retail & Operations
- Assist customers with product enquiries, styling and purchases.
- Support product displays, stock preparation, order packing and showroom upkeep.
- Assist with retail activities and events when required.
Requirements
- Currently pursuing or recently completed studies in Jewellery Design, Product Design, Industrial Design or a related field.
- Basic proficiency in Rhino or another relevant 3D/CAD tool.
- Ability to produce clear technical drawings with accurate measurements.
- Basic understanding of jewellery construction, materials, stones and prototype making.
- Hands-on experience with beading, stringing or jewellery assembly; academic and personal projects are welcome.
- Enjoy working with your hands, with patience for detailed tasks and design revisions.
- Strong attention to detail and pride in careful workmanship.
- Clear communication and willingness to take direction while contributing ideas.
- Organised and dependable, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and work collaboratively.
- Comfortable interacting with customers and supporting retail duties.
- Available to work on-site in Bangsar, including scheduled retail shifts.
