Safety Officer
Job Summary
As a Safety Officer, you will act as the backbone on site, making safety practical and visible so projects run on schedule while protecting people and assets. You will run site safety programmes, own on-the-ground risk controls, and ensure compliance with DOSH regulations and company safety standards. This role is ideal for accelerating your safety leadership and positioning yourself for future HSE manager roles.
Responsibilities
- Perform daily site inspections and manage permit-to-work procedures
- Ensure compliance with DOSH regulations and lead incident investigations
- Deliver toolbox talks, safety briefings, and manage emergency response plans
Required Skills
- Minimum 5 years construction site safety experience
- Diploma in Occupational/Construction Safety or NEBOSH certification
- Knowledge of DOSH regulations and risk assessment methods
- Strong communication and problem-solving skills

Responsibilities
Site Safety & Inspections
- Perform daily site inspections to spot hazards and issue clear, actionable corrective measures.
- Manage permit-to-work procedures and maintain up-to-date safety documentation for all high-risk activities.
Compliance & Reporting
- Ensure work complies with DOSH regulations and company safety standards, and prepare documents for audits.
- Lead incident investigations, produce concise reports, and recommend practical changes to reduce repeat incidents.
Training & Emergency Response
- Deliver toolbox talks and hands-on safety briefings to keep crews informed and focused.
- Maintain emergency response plans, organise drills, and coordinate first-response actions when needed.
Requirements
Qualifications & Experience
- Minimum 5 years of relevant construction site safety experience.
- Diploma or certificate in Occupational Safety, Construction Safety, or a related field; NEBOSH or equivalent safety certification is preferred.
- Familiarity with local regulations and prior exposure to large construction projects are advantageous.
Hard Skills & Knowledge
- Competence in risk assessment, safety audits, and incident investigation methods.
- Practical knowledge of DOSH regulations and Malaysian construction safety standards.
- Experience with permit-to-work systems, emergency planning, and clear safety report writing.
Soft Skills & Qualities
- Communicate clearly with diverse teams and present safety points in a practical way.
- Stay calm under pressure, pay attention to detail, and follow through until issues are resolved.
- Work collaboratively with contractors and site staff, showing a supportive and hands-on approach.
