Sales & Application Intern
Job Summary
As an intern, you will help build indoor sales capabilities and support application engineering tasks to turn enquiries into competitive solutions. You will work alongside senior engineers and the sales team to draft quotations, size systems, and manage projects. This is a hands-on role designed to develop your technical competence and practical sales experience in an engineering setting.
Responsibilities
- Prepare accurate quotations and technical proposals for pumps and accessories
- Size pumps and system components using basic hydraulic calculations
- Coordinate with suppliers, production, and logistics for order tracking
- Participate in client meetings and site visits to confirm scope
Required Skills
- Diploma or degree in Mechanical Engineering
- Basic understanding of pump types and system head calculations
- Proficiency with MS Excel for pricing worksheets
- Strong communication and organizational skills

Responsibilities
Sales Support & Quotations
- Prepare clear, accurate quotations for pumps and accessories based on client requirements and standard pricing.
- Coordinate with suppliers to get component lead times and update quotation validity accordingly.
- Follow up on enquiries, log responses in the CRM, and escalate hot leads to senior sales staff.
- Keep pricing templates and product lists updated for quick reuse by the team.
Application Engineering
- Size pumps and basic system components using suppliers' curves and simple hydraulic calculations.
- Create and revise basic piping layouts or sketches for indoor installations using provided drawings.
- Work with senior engineers to verify performance and ensure solutions meet client specifications.
- Document technical assumptions and suggested operating points for each proposal.
Customer & Project Coordination
- Participate in client meetings and site visits to confirm scope and collect technical data.
- Liaise with production and logistics to confirm delivery schedules and installation support.
- Track order progress and keep customers informed until handover.
- Support warranty or aftersales enquiries by collecting service details and passing them to the service team.
Requirements
Qualifications & Experience
- Diploma or degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field, or final year student pursuing the same.
- Approximately 2 years of combined internship or work experience in mechanical, pump, or industrial sales support roles.
- Prior exposure to preparing technical quotations or assisting sales engineers is preferred.
- Comfortable working in a small engineering team and learning on the job.
Hard Skills & Knowledge
- Basic understanding of pump types, pump curves, and system head calculations.
- Familiarity with mechanical drawings and ability to read simple piping layouts.
- Proficient with MS Excel for pricing worksheets and basic calculations.
- Experience with SQL tools, quotation templates, is an advantage.
Soft Skills & Qualities
- Clear communicator who can explain technical points to nontechnical customers.
- Organised and detail oriented, able to manage multiple quotations and enquiries.
- Curious and coachable, open to feedback from senior engineers and sales staff.
