Job Summary

Job Details

Manage and administer construction contracts from tender/pre-award stage through to project completion. Review, draft, negotiate and manage contracts, subcontracts, purchase orders and related agreements. Ensure all contractual requirements, obligations, notices and deadlines are properly monitored and complied with. Manage variation orders (VO), extension of time (EOT), loss and expense, claims and counterclaims. Review and assess contractors’ and subcontractors’ progress claims, payment applications and supporting documents. Prepare and submit contractual notices, claims, EOT applications and other correspondence to clients, consultants and subcontractors. Monitor project progress, contractual milestones and potential delays, and advise the project team on contractual implications. Identify contractual risks and recommend appropriate mitigation measures. Coordinate with the Project Manager, Quantity Surveyor, Site Team, Consultant and Client on contractual and commercial matters. Review tender documents, drawings, specifications, bills of quantities and contract conditions. Maintain proper records of contracts, correspondence, site instructions, meeting minutes, claims and supporting documents. Assist in resolving contractual disputes, including negotiation, mediation, adjudication or other dispute resolution processes where required. Monitor subcontractor performance and ensure compliance with contractual terms and project requirements. Prepare contractual and commercial reports for management. Assist in final account preparation, settlement and contract close-out. Ensure all contractual documentation is properly filed and maintained for audit and legal purposes. Requirements: Degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, Contract Management or related field. Minimum 5 years' relevant experience in construction contract administration/management. Strong knowledge of construction contracts, subcontracting and commercial procedures. Good understanding of VO, EOT, claims, LAD, progress payments, retention and final accounts. Experience with contract forms such as CIDB, PAM, JKR, IEM or other standard construction contracts is an advantage. Strong negotiation, communication and problem-solving skills. Able to read and understand construction drawings, specifications and contract documents. Good knowledge of Microsoft Office, especially Word and Excel. Able to work independently and manage multiple projects/deadlines. Strong documentation and report-writing skills. Willing to travel to project sites when required.
