Regional Manager
Job Summary
The Regional Manager will conduct regular field visits to execute projects, manage day-to-day operations, and coordinate with stakeholders and partners in Sarawak. The role requires overseeing project implementation, organizing training programs, reviewing data, and preparing reports while ensuring compliance with financial standards. Additionally, the candidate will build relationships with government departments, promote new technology adoption, and support resource mobilization efforts.
Responsibilities
- Manage day-to-day project operations and field implementation in Sarawak
- Organize training, workshops, and capacity-building programs for farmers
- Coordinate with industry stakeholders, government departments, and experts
- Prepare reports, process documentation, and ensure financial compliance
- Support fundraising efforts and donor relationship management
Required Skills
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in related fields
- 5-7 years of experience in agriculture, sustainability, or leadership
- Knowledge of Malaysia palm oil sector, MSPO, ESG, and EUDR
- Experience in team management and budget oversight
- Fluent in English and Bahasa Malaysia with a valid driving license

Conduct regular field visits to provide support and execute the project at field and manage day-to-day operations in coordination with stakeholders/partners and ensure timely implementation of project plans; Organize trainings, workshops, exposure and capacity building programmes for other field functionaries and targeted farmers; Review and analyze collected data and prepare draft compiled reports, process documentation/reporting; Coordinate regularly with all the relevant industry stakeholders/government departments and technical institutes; Coordination and regular communication with experts, consultants, and project partners/stakeholders; Actively participate in programme management team meetings; Support supervisor in identifying potential donors among international, national and institutional funders and assist in submitting briefs/proposals; Develop and maintain relationship with national and provincial governments and other stakeholders; Ensuring project expense reporting compliance with Solidaridad finance and administration reporting standard; Review and analyse collected data and prepare draft compiled reports, process documentation and support in MIS and relevant programme documentation / reporting; Promote new technology adoption for extension support at field level; Coordinate regularly with all the relevant industry stakeholders’/government departments and technical institutes; Coordination and regular communication with experts, consultants, and project partners/stakeholders; Support supervisor in identifying potential donors among International, National, and Institutional funders and assist in submitting briefs/proposal; Develop and maintain relationship with national and provincial governments and other stakeholders; Ensuring project expense reporting compliance with Solidaridad finance and administration reporting standard; Review and analyse collected data and prepare draft compiled reports, process documentation and support in MIS and relevant programme documentation / reporting; Promote new technology adoption for extension support at field level; Coordinate regularly with all the relevant industry stakeholders’/government departments and technical institutes; Coordination and regular communication with experts, consultants, and project partners/stakeholders; Support supervisor in identifying potential donors among International, National, and Institutional funders and assist in submitting briefs/proposals; All other terms and conditions of employment set out in your original appointment letter will continue to apply to your ongoing position; Any other task as assigned by the supervisors from time to time.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Agriculture, Forestry, Environmental Science, Natural Resources, Rural Development, Sustainability, Project Management, or related field. A Master's degree would be an advantage.
- Approximately 5 to 7 years of relevant experience in agriculture, sustainability, international development, NGO programmes, or rural development, with several years in a leadership role.
- Strong understanding of Malaysia's palm oil sector, MSPO certification, sustainability standards, climate-smart agriculture, smallholder development, ESG, and preferably EUDR and deforestation-related initiatives.
- Experience managing field teams, supervising programme staff, coaching employees, and managing regional operations.
- Proven ability to plan, implement, monitor, evaluate, and report on donor-funded or development projects. Experience managing project budgets would be valuable.
- Excellent English and Bahasa Malaysia (spoken and written). Ability to facilitate workshops, conduct presentations, and prepare donor-quality reports.
- Willingness to travel extensively across Sarawak, including remote rural areas, and possess a valid driving licence.
