Accounting Finance Intern
Job Summary
This internship position involves managing daily bookkeeping, supplier payments, and project cost tracking while supporting month-end routines and financial reporting. The role offers hands-on experience in property finance, working closely with project managers and senior leaders in a compact team environment. Candidates will develop practical technical skills in accounting software and advanced Excel while ensuring financial compliance and controls.

- Manage daily bookkeeping, AP/AR, and bank reconciliations
- Process supplier invoices and contractor payments
- Prepare monthly and quarterly financial statements

Required Skills

Responsibilities
Financial Operations
- Manage daily bookkeeping including accounts payable, accounts receivable, and bank reconciliations to keep records up to date.
- Process supplier invoices and contractor payments accurately and on time while maintaining supporting documentation.
- Support basic payroll administration and statutory contributions processing to ensure timely staff payments.
- Maintain the general ledger and perform regular reconciliations to resolve discrepancies quickly.
Reporting & Analysis
- Prepare monthly and quarterly financial statements and summaries for management review.
- Produce project cost reports and highlight variances to help keep budgets on track.
- Assist in cashflow forecasts and short-term cash planning to support project milestones.
- Compile ad hoc reports and present clear data to non-finance colleagues.
Compliance & Controls
- Support statutory compliance, including SST and annual tax filing preparation, by collating required documentation.
- Maintain internal control checklists and help implement basic process improvements.
- Work with external auditors during audits by providing schedules and explanations.
- Ensure invoices, contracts, and purchase orders follow company approval workflows.
Requirements
Qualifications & Experience
- Diploma or Degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field with about 2 years of practical accounting experience.
- Experience in property, construction, or SME environments is preferred but not mandatory.
- Familiarity with month-end closing and basic statutory reporting in Malaysia.
Hard Skills & Knowledge
- Strong Excel skills including formulas and pivot tables for reporting and reconciliations.
- Hands-on experience with accounting software such as MYOB, Xero, or similar platforms.
- Knowledge of general ledger maintenance, accounts payable and receivable processes, and bank reconciliations.
- Basic understanding of SST, payroll-related contributions, and preparing schedules for audit.
