Software Engineer Intern

Your role is to help build and scale web features from day one. You will write backend and frontend code, ship incremental improvements, and help turn user feedback into working features that keep our products moving forward. Your Growth & Impact - Build familiar web projects that you can show in your portfolio and share with peers. - Learn full stack patterns by working on real Laravel and Vue.js applications in production. - Expand your technical scope by contributing to database design, API endpoints, and frontend state management. - Connect with senior engineers for code reviews and technical guidance to accelerate your learning curve. Responsibilities Project Development - Implement server-side features using PHP frameworks, primarily Laravel, following the project's conventions and tests when available. - Build interactive user interfaces with Vue.js and manage component state with Vuex for predictable front-end behavior. - Integrate WordPress where required for content-driven pages and ensure consistent theming and data flow. - Design and run queries in MySQL, optimise basic queries, and help shape simple schema changes. Code Quality & Collaboration - Write clear, maintainable code and participate in code reviews to keep the codebase healthy. - Use Git for source control and follow branching guidelines to keep releases stable. - Document your work and raise clear tickets when bugs or improvements are needed. - Pair with teammates on tricky problems and accept feedback to improve implementation choices. Deployment & Maintenance - Assist with deployment steps for staging and production, and follow rollback procedures when needed. - Monitor basic application logs and report recurring issues to the team for resolution. - Support minor production fixes and collaborate with ops or senior engineers on larger incidents. - Help maintain simple automated scripts or CI tasks to reduce manual steps. Requirements Qualifications & Experience - Bachelor's degree, diploma, or equivalent experience in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related field is preferred but not mandatory. - 0 years of professional experience expected; recent graduates or internship experience with web projects are encouraged to apply. - Portfolio, GitHub, or samples of past projects that show PHP/Laravel or Vue.js work will help your application stand out. Hard Skills & Knowledge - Practical experience or coursework with PHP frameworks, especially Laravel, and familiarity with MVC patterns. - Hands-on experience building front-end interfaces with Vue.js and managing state with Vuex. - Experience working with WordPress for content pages and MySQL for relational data storage and basic query optimisation. - Comfort using Git and working with RESTful APIs, plus basic HTML and CSS knowledge for UI fixes. Soft Skills & Qualities - Communicate clearly in English and be willing to ask questions when requirements are unclear. - Show curiosity, take ownership of small tasks, and be ready to iterate quickly on feedback. - Be a collaborative team member who respects project timelines and contributes to a positive team culture. - Demonstrate problem solving and a willingness to learn new tools and practices as the product evolves.
